West Cornwall Property Care, a local holiday let maintenance business.
A website to showcase a range of services. Development lasted a month, beginning August 2021.
West Cornwall Property Care is local holiday let maintenance business from Cornwall, UK. The nature of this business largely involves properties with prominent costal views in the local area. This was a key initial factor in evaluating the identity of the brand and its subsequent use of colours, fonts and shape. To achieve the website's primary goal to promote the business's services encourage property owners to contact the company for more information, a highly stylised website was designed.
During an initial discussion it was decided that the design should parallel the colours and themes seen in the local area which include beautiful countryside and coastal areas. This corresponded to the use of turquoise, cream, white and black used throughout the site. These colours were then extrapolated to the brand's extended identity, including a Facebook page.
Another important consideration for the website was the font pairings utilised. A slightly curved, modern serif font is used for body text and small headers, implying a trustworthy, modern and reliable solution. This has been paired with a clean sans-serif font, reserved for the largest headers and text labels. This font further reinforces the site's modern and trustworthy connotations.
Finally, site structure was an important consideration for this project. As mentioned this website's primary goal is to promote the business's services encourage clients towards contacting through the site. For this reason all of the most important pages such as the hero information, about section, services, testimonials and contact form were all placed on one landing page. Navigation links then direct the user to the area in the page relating to that topic. This was done to allow quicker navigation; concentrating the most important information into one area.
Typical to the set up of any website implementation, I began by creating a project stylesheet to outline the core styles which will be used across the site. Doing this allows quick changes to be made to any element in the project be either myself or the client. A key consideration here is to ensure these styles are created with consistency while adhering to community accessibility guidelines. I then began creating each of the pages which will be used in the website which in this case included a landing home page, contact section, about section, and testimonial functionality.
It should be noted that the content for this project may not yet been completed. Placeholder content is therefore utilised in various areas of the project where required.
